How to Install Hard Drive in Hp Proliant Server

Hello! everyone, I have a question to ask. A client company which I work for, bought additional 500GB hp hard drive to add to the existing 276GB that is already filled . I've already added the new drive to the server, but when I run the HP PorLiant CD in order to do the configuration, the OS will indicate that this software is not for this server. Indeed I think I might have misplaced the software that came with the server. Please could anyone possibly give me a reassuring solution on how to configure this new hard disk. Thanks in anticipation...
Agreed, if you go to HP's website, choose download software/drivers and enter the model of the ProLiant server you are using it will take you to the software download section for that model. Just look for the SmartStart CD installer and burn the ISO to DVD for your system. Not sure why you would need to run SmartStart to add the drive since the HP Array Configuration Utility should already be installed on the system and you would be able to manage the new drives from there. The only reason the Array utility would not see the new drives is if the secondary backplane cable is not installed which would be required for using bays 5 and 6 or 6 thru 10 based on the model of server to function. Most of HP's servers are sold without the additional cable unless it is specified when the client configures the server during the ordering process. Something to consider.

A few questions...
What model of Proliant is it?
How are you planning on using the hard disk? Just as an additional 500GB with no fault tolerance?
Yep, more detail. Model, system configuration of the existing hardware setup, operating system, etc.
It sounds like downloading the right utility from the hp site is what your after, Im sure someone will post up a link when you provide the model etc
